Connor and I absolutely love afternoon teas - I mean who doesn’t right, they are delicious! We were so excited for this experience we even looked at the menu before coming and we each planned what we were going to try, and trust me, I have never seen a menu with this much choice. It was so unique and appetising; I couldn’t stop dreaming about the way it would feel to try all those pastries. Our mouths were watering!

Finally, the day of the experience arrived, and we made our way from our office in Brighton to Dot Teas in Bournemouth. Upon arrival we were nicely welcomed by Sue who is the baker and Gemma who is the decorator of the facility, into a very cosy seating area which overlooks the main street of Seamoor Road.

Connor and I were amazed by the work that was put into the decoration of the furniture and the artwork; not a detail was left behind. We felt like we were at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party from Alice in Wonderland

After our Experience Days colleague Charlotte turned up to say hi, the awaiting Gemma and Sue nicely took our orders. Connor ordered a hot chocolate, Charlotte a hot tea, and I went for a foamy coffee. After catching up with each other, our afternoon tea reached our table, and our first impression was “WOW”! The variety of pastries and sandwiches was unreal, and we couldn’t wait to try out all these different foods.

Beginning with the savoury tier, we each had 4 different sandwiches to try including: egg mayo, ham & mustard, cream cheese & cucumber, and cheese & tomato. In terms of the desserts, we each had 4 different pastries. I won’t spoil the specifics – you’ll just have to go and find out for yourself!

Finally, of course the inevitable scones with clotted cream and jam. To be very honest with you, I personally have never had a scone in my life, so I started eating it like a piece of cake. Both Charlotte and Connor were looking at me as if I was doing something wrong, so I asked why they were looking at me strangely and they both said that I was eating it entirely incorrectly. We all had a little laugh!

They both showed me to cut it in half, and now was the time for me to make a big decision as to whether I would put the cream or the jam first on the scone. Well…I will leave this to your imagination because I heard it was debatable! I will just say that no debate occurred that day!

Overall, the food was delicious, and the service was superb. We had a great time at Dot Teas and if I could go every day, I would. The only advice I would give is to come with an empty stomach. From both of us, a massive thank you to Gemma and Sue from Dot Teas for this unique homemade Afternoon Tea. What an unforgettable experience!
