Land Yachting is a great sport with a history that stretches back thousands of years. The modern day land yachts are both sleek and lightweight and are capable of travelling seriously fast with speeds of 50mph+ not uncommon....with no brakes! Land Yachting has become more and more popular and its easy to see why; it is both adrenalin fueled and accessible, the yachts can be transported easily and the sport creates no noise, pollution or site damage. Our Discover Land Yachting experience is designed to give you a real taste for the sport, you will be surprised at the progress you will make and can expect to be 'sailing' around a circuit by the end of the session.

Experience Content

Your session will start with a briefing covering safety and basic techniques before you start having a go in the Land Yacht; initially you will sail at low speed, mastering how to stop the Land Yacht (very important as it has no brakes!). You will then be taught how to turn the yacht and as your confidence builds you will move on to a figure of eight course which allows you to practice safe and controlled turns. Depending on your progress you may finish the session learning more advanced skills such as gybe turns.

This experience will last for 3 hours.

What to Wear / Equipment

All safety equipment is provided by the centre. On the day you should wear jeans, sweat shirt, trainers, change of clothing just in case you get wet and waterproof jacket and trousers.

Group Size / Spectators

There will be a maximum of six students per instructor, spectators are welcome.

Weather

Land Yachting is weather dependent; please check with the centre the day before or on the day to check that your experience is going ahead.

Availability

Available on weekends year round (Limited availability in July/August)
Due to demand there are no available dates until the 6th September 2008 in our Kent location.
In the Fife location they are open and available 7 days a week

Restrictions

Age Restrictions: Min age is 16

Weight restrictions: Maxi weight is 16.5 stone or 105 kg,
Reasonable Fitness is required
