Rally Driving is one of the most exciting and exhilarating experiences both in and out of the motor world, and Ex Element is delighted to bring this experience to you. This driving experience is extremely rewarding and really gets the adrenalin pumping as you attempt to keep a high speed through challenging corners and muddy tracks. During this half day experience you will get to drive the awesome Ford Escort RS2000 which made a name for itself when it dominated the world of competitive rallying in the late 70's and early 80's. The car is still considered one of the all time greats and provides a terrific platform for you to start learning how to drive like a pro. The experience will start in a practice area before you will move onto racing the "Special Stage" where you’ll be testing your skills on a challenging course. Your instructor and co-driver for the day will bring a wealth of experience from the competitive rally world and is poised to unload as much advice on you as possible!

Once you have arrived and been welcomed to the centre your day will begin with a thorough safety briefing covering all aspects of the course and the Ford RS2000. Your driving will then begin when you are kitted out in the racing gear before starting in the practice area, where your instructor will teach you how to perform handbrake turns, power slides and pendulum techniques. This combines steering, braking, throttle control and car position. You will then be ready to start your runs through the special stages! At York you will drive around 5 laps in total (split throughout experience) and have one passenger ride with the pro instructor. After you have tackled the special stage in all of the Ford RS2000’s glory you will finish the day with a debrief session where your instructor will summarize your progress and give advice on your performance. In York there will be a trophy and bubbly for the fastest time of the group and a plaque for all other drivers.
Restrictions
All participants must have a Full UK Driving License. If you are extraordinarily tall or short, or feel that your physique may impair your enjoyment of this activity in any way, please call us before you purchase this experience.
Duration
You should allow 3.5 hours for your experience.
What to Wear / Equipment
You should dress for the weather and wear trainers. Helmet and all specialist equipment is provided by the centre.
Group Size / Spectators
There will be a maximum of 5 pupils per car allowing individual tuition and plenty of 'hands on driving time'. Spectators are welcome, however no children under 16 years old. There is a small charge for spectators on the day n Bicester. Half day spectator - £10.00 per person (includes refreshments).
Weather
This experience will only be affected by very extreme weather conditions; if in doubt please check with the centre before setting off.

The welcome to the centre was friendly and signing on and the selection of overalls and helmets no problem. The safety briefing was clear and helpful. The rally cars were well turned out and appeared to be well prepared, with a spare car available, but I found the circuit, although unavoidably muddy, to be very tight and twisty. I expected a more open, faster circuit where one could give the car it's head, although I appreciate that the course has to cater for absolute beginners upwards!
