Discover Rock Climbing

Rock Climbing has exploded in popularity over recent years, with thousands of people enjoying this fantastic extreme sport which gets you out and appreciating the great outdoors. Outdoor Rock Climbing is a very rewarding activity; it is both physically and technically challenging and is also great fun. This half-day course is designed as an introduction to rock climbing with the emphasis on understanding and trying out the sport, having fun and learning basic climbing & bouldering techniques. This great intro is ideal for someone with an interest or in the sport or someone who fancies trying something very rewarding.

Agenda

Once you have arrived and been welcomed to the centre your day will begin with a thorough safety briefing covering all aspects of the equipment and the surface that you will be climbing. Once briefed it is time to start practicing the basic skills covered in the lesson. Here you will be practicing techniques including knots & belaying, climbing technique & etiquette and an introduction to bouldering & safety awareness. This great taster session will give a solid understanding of what is involved with this great sport, and hopefully whet the whistle for future adventures!

Restrictions
Minimum Age: 14
All under 18's must be accompanied by a PARTICIPATING Parent / Guardian.
Bridgend Location: Must have a minimum of 4 people for the booking at weekends.

Duration
This is a half day session that will last 3 - 4 hours.
In South Wales the session will last 5 hours.
In Glasgow, it lasts 3 hours with a choice of morning and afternoon times.

What to Wear / Equipment
All specialist equipment with be provided by the centre. You should wear trainers and loose clothing that is suitable for the weather conditions. Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of water as there are normally no shops near the crags.

Group Size / Spectators
There will be a maximum of nine climbers per instructor, and spectators are more than welcome to come and watch your courageous climbing adventure!

Weather
Rock climbing can sometimes be affected by bad weather; if in doubt please call the centre before setting off.

Availability
This experience is available on selected dates from March to November.
