Dinghy Sailing can be a social activity done with friends and family, a highly competitive sport with racing at club and international level, or a high adrenaline buzz whilst sailing one of the modern high performance dinghies. The RYA Level 1 Dinghy Sailing is the course for those that are serious about learning to Sail, it is a fantastic two day course that will give you a thorough introduction to the sport, covering the knowledge required to get afloat under supervision. It will give you an understanding of boat handling techniques and background knowledge of sailing.
Experience Content
For novices, this RYA start sailing course will introduce you to the experience of sailing. Through out the two day course you will learn all about boat controls, boat handling and experience sailing out on the open water by yourself. Your instructor will take you through the basics of Rigging, Sailing and Safety. Much of your time will be spent afloat learning basic manoeuvres and by the end of the course you will be able to helm a dinghy under the supervision of an instructor. Logbook and handbooks are included in the cost of the course and upon completion an R.Y.A. certificate.

Duration
This is a 2 day course, exact timings vary between locations.
What to Wear / Equipment
Bring a Swimming costume, and non-slip shoes that you are prepared to get wet. We recommend that you wear a long sleeved top with full length trousers. NO JEANS. A change of dry clothes is also recommended. All other specialist equipment including lifejacket is provided.

Spectators are welcome at most centres, please check when booking.
Weather
Sailing courses can be weather dependant and in extreme circumstances the course may be affected. Please check with the center prior to arrival.
Availability
The RYA Level 1 Course is run most weeks at our centres all year round.
Restrictions
Age Restrictions: Min age at most locations is 8.
(Under 18's must be accompanied by an adult).
At Manchester Location Min age is 9.
At Nottingham Location Min age is 16 and Max weight is 114kg / 18 stone (or Max chest size 122cm / 48 inch).
