Full Day Yacht Sailing

Enjoy a full day's tuition learning the basics skills and techniques of sailing and enjoy plenty of hands-on practice as you explore Southampton's fabulous waters! Being one of the oldest forms of transportation, sailing is both incredibly thrilling and extremely rewarding once you learnt the essentials, and where better to master the art than with a full day out on the water. Discover the different functions of each peice of equipment as you learn how to harness the wind before pushing your skills to the limit as taking complete control of the vessel!

Agenda

Once you have arrived and been welcomed to the centre your experience will begin with a full safety briefing as you get kitted out in the necessary gear. Listen to the qualified instructor as they introduce you to the basic skills and techniques of sailing, before they let you step behind the wheel to have a go. Control the vessel as you glide across the Solent or Southampton water and put the theory to the test. You will enjoy plenty of hands on tuition, as well as taking a step back and watching how the other participants perform. You will break for lunch ashore (please note: lunch is not included), before climbing aboard and starting your afternoon session. Now to put your new found skills to practice as you sail towards Cowes or Southampton, take in the stunning views of the coastline and enormous cargo ships around. Your experience will draw to a close with a glass of wine (for over 18s only) as you return to port.

Please Note: Refreshments on-board the boat are included, however lunch is not.

Restrictions
Minimum Age: 13
Maximum Weight: 20 Stone

If you are extraordinarily tall or short, or feel that your physique may impair your enjoyment of this activity in any way, please check with the centre when booking.

Duration
This experience lasts approximately 7 hours, usually between 10:00am - 5:00pm.

What to Wear / Equipment
Due to the nature of this experience please dress for all weather conditions, including several layers of clothing, non-deck marking shoes (eg trainers/deck shoes, no black soles), shower proof jacket, hat, sunglasses and sun lotion.
Make sure you remember your camera!

Group Size / Spectators
This experience is great for both individuals and groups alike.
Please Note: There will be up to 6 other participants on the experience as well.

Spectators welcome to wave off from the marina, however will not be allowed on-board.

Weather
This experience can be affected by extreme weather conditions. If in doubt, please contact the centre on the day to make sure it is going ahead.

Availability
This experience is available on selected days throughout April to October, usually taking place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
