Take to the sea with this sailing experience in Dorset and enjoy the thrill of harnessing the power of the wind on the beautiful 32ft clipper yacht! With the guidance of an expert team of instructors, you will learn the basics of seamen ship in the water surrounding Christchurch, Dorset. No previous sailing experience is required, but the skipper can tailor the experience so even experiences sailors learn something new, or help a nervous first timer get acquainted and comfortable one the vessel. You will have four hours on board with only the rattle of the rigging for company as you sails past the Dorset coast line towards the Isle of Wight!

Agenda

Your half day sailing experience in Dorset will begin with a welcome by the skipper of the 32ft clipper you will be sailing in. After a short talk on safety procedures, the skipper will leave the Christchurch harbour and head for open waters along the Dorset coast where you can take part in as much or as little of the sailing as you wish. The boat is kitted out with with a full galley and toilet facilities. Throughout the 4 hour sail, you will see sights such as Keyhaven, The Needles and Hurst Castle but the exact course will be determined by wind direction.

The duration of this experience is circa four hours.

What to Wear / Equipment
Life jackets are provided and waterproofs are available for hire at small additional charges. You should wear comfortable clothing that won't hinder you moving around the boat and clean soft-soled deck shoes or trainers with white or non-marking soles, to change into at the yacht. Gloves, hat, scarf, warm layers of clothing if it is cold and sunglasses & sun lotion if it is hot. Packed lunch if required. (Tea/coffee is provided on-board)

If you are prone to sea-sickness or travel sickness, we recommend travel pills called 'Sturgeron' that should be taken 2 hours before sailing

Group Size / Spectators
There will be a maximum of eight people including the skipper on board.

Weather
Sailing courses can be weather dependant and in extreme circumstances the course may be affected. Please check with the centre prior to arrival.

Availability
Sailing in Dorset is available from March to November.
