From helming the yacht to handling the sails, enjoy a fabulous day out learning the art of sailing with this incredible experience. With a qualified instructor on hand to help, discover the basic skills and techniques and put the theory to practice as you take control. Explore the Southampton or Solent waters and take in the stunning scenery as your skipper points out the famous landmarks along the way. Whether you are serious in taking up the sport of sailing, or perhaps simply interested in a fun day out, this fantastic experience has it all!

Agenda

Once you have arrived and been welcomed to the centre your experience will begin with a full safety briefing and introduction to sailing. Listen to the qualified instructor and gain a full understanding of how to control the boat and sails before putting the theory to the test and having a go. Learn how to harbour the wind, whilst keeping control over the speed and direction of the vessel before taking a seat and enjoying the stunning scenery around whilst the other participants have their turn. With 3 hours of in-depth tuition you will enjoy plenty of hands-on tuition covering the essential principles of sailing. Your experience will draw to a close as you return to the port.

Minimum Age: 13
Maximum Weight: 20 Stone

If you are extraordinarily tall or short, or feel that your physique may impair your enjoyment of this activity in any way, please check with the centre when booking.

Duration
This experience lasts approximately 7 hours, usually between 10:00am - 1:00pm.

What to Wear / Equipment
Due to the nature of this experience please dress for all weather conditions, including several layers of clothing, non-deck marking shoes (eg trainers/deck shoes, no black soles), shower proof jacket, hat, sunglasses and sun lotion.
Make sure you remember your camera!

Group Size / Spectators
This experience is great for both individuals and groups alike.
Please Note: There will be up to 6 other participants on the experience as well.

Spectators welcome to wave off from the marina, however will not be allowed on-board.

Weather
This experience can be affected by extreme weather conditions. If in doubt, please contact the centre on the day to make sure it is going ahead.

Availability
This experience is available on selected days throughout April to October, usually taking place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
