Kitesurfing is one of the most exciting and exhilarating sports around today. It takes the best from a range of water sports like surfing, wakeboarding, windsurfing and paragliding. Perranporth has miles of golden sandy beaches and this has always attracted surfers to the area. With the introduction of modern equipment and a structured approached to learning which is developed by the International Kitesurfing Organisation (IKO), learning to Kitesurf has never been easier. This 3 day course with an experienced instructor is perfect for people wanting to get into the sport and you don’t need any experience at all to take part, all you need is the enthusiasm!

Agenda

This three day course will cover all aspects of kitesurfing to take you from being a complete novice to a safe kitesurfer who can go out and enjoy and practice the sport without instructor supervision. During the course you will cover launching and landing of kites, pre flight checks, water safety, body-dragging, re-launching from water, water self rescues, load and launch, board starts, rules of the road, edging & riding up wind, self launching, self landing, weather theory and much more, In short, the complete Kitesurfing course.

This three day course is the course for those serious about learning to Kitesurf and wanting to go out and buy their own equipment, investing in the third day is really worth while. By the end of the third day you can realistically expect to be issued with an IKO (International Kiteboarding Organisation) certification card that will enable you to kitesurf and hire kiteboarding equipment all over the world and you may even be attempting your first jumps! Extreme fun guaranteed.

Restrictions
No Maximum or Minimum Height or Weight Size - But you will need to fit into a harness, please check with the centre when booking
Minimum Age: 10
Under 18's will require parent supervision when the lesson is in the water

Participants must be comfortable in the water.

If you have a particular medical condition that you think may affect your ability to do the course, please check with the centre when booking.
Please note that dates are never fully guaranteed due to the dependency on weather.

Duration
The course will be 3 days lasting for 5 - 6 hours each. The start times vary due to tide times.

What to Wear / Equipment
All equipment will be supplied - this includes kite, board, wet suit, harness and helmet. You just need to take a change of dry clothes, a swimming costume and a towel. If you have your own kit and want to use it for the lessons please check with the centre first.

Group Size / Spectators
Group sizes vary but will usually be 2 - 4 students per instructor. Spectators are welcome but please listen to the instructors as to where the safest place to stand and watch is.

Weather
Kitesurfing is a weather dependent sport. Basically you need wind! Please make sure you call the centre either the day before or on the actual day of your course to check that your lesson is going ahead.

Availability
Generally from March - November but bear in mind that the water temperature in the months of December, January and February can get a little chilly! Courses run on weekdays & weekends.
