Microlighting in Essex is the ideal flying experience, as the fantastic countryside and natural feel of the aircraft pits you right up in the clouds - with an incredible view of the surrounding countryside. Taking off from Damyns Hall Airfield, the nearest airfield to London, you'll fly over some magnificent countryside and landscapes, including acres of fields, lakes, woodlands and the River Thames in the distance. With so much of London visible from up there, you'll see how easily accessible a 2,000ft Microlight flight can be - appreciating the Greenbelt land of rural Essex, surrounding Damyns Hill Airfield and and Belhus Woods Country Park in particular.

Agenda

Once you have arrived and been welcomed to Damyns Hall Airfield, your Microlight Flying experience will begin with a safety brief and introduction to the flying techniques with your instructor, before beginning your ascent from the runway. Once airborne, you can expect to reach a height of around 2,000ft - at a speed of around 60mph. This fantastic flight will then last for 20-30 minutes, encompassing Essex, the Thames and much more of London's spectacular aerial views! Once your flight nears its end, you'll be safely landed by the instructor and shown the post flight checks. You'll then be presented with a flying certificate and the experience will come to a close.

Maximum Weight: 15-16.5 stone (location dependent)

Duration
Microlight Trial Flight in Essex will last for around 2 hours, with closer to 20-30 minutes in the air.

What to Wear / Equipment
Damyns Hill Airfield will provide all of the necessary safety and flying equipment.

You should wear old clothes that you don't getting a little roughed up and dirty. Layers are a good idea.

Dress for the weather, with sunglasses and suncream in the summer, and woollies in the winter!

Group Size / Spectators
Family and friends are welcome to watch your memorable Microlight flight in Upminster, Essex - and are encouraged to bring a camera!

No pets are allowed on site, and under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Weather
Microlighting is a weather dependent activity.

Customers must call us for a weather check on the morning of their flight, (between 9-9.30am), or the evening before (between 7pm and 9pm) whatever the forecast.

Availability
Microlight Flying at London's closest airfield is available on selected weekdays and weekends from February to November.
