This RYA L1 Dinghy Sailing Course is a great introduction to the art of sailing for any individual or group. This level one course is for complete beginners and is suitable for people who havent been sailing before. Experience the thrill of the open water as you learn the five essential techniques in controlling your own sail, entitling you to sail the seas forever more! The picturesque coastal town of Weymouth is a popular family destination and makes for the perfect sailing location, with some of the most beautiful and safe waters in the UK. With the RYA Level 1 under your belt, you are free to move onwards and upwards and earn more of the recognised qualifications, starting with RYA L2!

Agenda

Once you have arrived and have been welcomed to the centre your RYA L1 Dinghy Sailing will begin with a safety brief and introduction to the equipment that you will be using on this fantastic 2 day course, along with the sailing techniques that you will mastering. With the emphasis laid upon trying to master the basic techniques, your two day course will pit you in the Stratos or Bahia, learning how to control the boat and sail on the open water by yourself. The RYA L1 is also suitable for people who have sailed in the past and would like to blow the cobwebs away with a 'refresher' course. It is recomended that all participants do the Level 1 and shortly follow on to the Level 2 course.

Restrictions
Minimum Age: 17

Participants must be able to swim 50m comfortably. This level one course is for complete beginners and is suitable for people who havent been sailing before.

Duration
The RYA L1 Course will last two days over one weekend.

Qualification that can be gained: RYA Level 1.

What to Wear / Equipment
It is advised to bring Swim wear to put under your wetsuit (which is provided on the day) and footwear which you are happy to get wet.

Group Size / Spectators
Spectators are welcome however please check when booking.

There is a restaurant and cafe onsite where you can purchase a range of food and drink.

This activity is weather dependent, so please phone the centre on the day to ensure it is going ahead.

The RYA L1 Course runs most weekends from March to November.
