Master the basic skills and techniques required to guide the dinghy around the 42 acre lake and with plenty of practice across the 2 day course broaden your knowledge of sailing, from the history of this fantastic sport to understanding boat handling and control. The qualified instructor will be on hand throughout the course, starting by teaching you the basics before swapping roles and assessing your skills in order to complete the RYA level 1 Dinghy Sailing certificate. Whether you are interested in pursuing your skills further into the highly-competitive sport of racing or simply looking to start a new hobby, this in-depth course is a great place to start!

Agenda

Once you have arrived and been welcomed to the centre your experience will begin with a full safety briefing and an introduction to your RYA level 1 course. Learn the basics skills and techniques with a land based lesson before taking to the water to have a go. The qualified instructor will be on hand throughout the two day course, teaching you an array of manoeuvres whilst making sure you progess quickly through the basics, before assessing your skills with the RYA criteria. By the end of day two you will be able to sail in all directions, with a competent level of skills in launching and recovering the boat, you will also be able to sail in light winds under the supervision of your instructor. Your experience will draw to a close with a de-brief back at the centre, including a discussion of the techniques learnt and presentation of your personalised certificate.

Restrictions
Minimum Age: 16
Please let the centre know if you are not confident within the water.
If you are extraordinarily tall or short, or feel that your physique may impair your enjoyment of this activity in any way, please check with the centre when booking.

Duration
The RYA course takes approximately 2 full days to complete.

What to Wear / Equipment
Please bring a swimsuit, non-slip shoes you don't mind getting wet and a change of clothes. We recommend you wear a long sleeved top and full length trousers (No Jeans). All specialised equipment will be provided by the centre.

Group Size / Spectators
This experience is great for both individuals and groups alike.
Spectators welcome.
