RYA Windsurfing Course

Discover the world of windsurfing today with this incredible two-day course. Learn the basic skills and techniques to safely guide yourself across the 42 acre lake and with expert guidance throughout complete your RYA level 1 qualification. Being a cross between two of the most popular watersports, surfing and sailing, windsurfing is both physically and technically challenging but with correct tuition from the start, you will breeze through this great introductory course! By the end of day two expect to have a complete understanding of the board and rig and be able to sail up and down the freshwater lake in light winds.

Agenda

Once you have arrived and been welcomed to the centre your experience will begin with a full safety briefing and an introduction to your RYA level 1 course. Learn the basics skills and techniques with a der-land simulator before taking to the water to have a go. The qualified instructor will be on hand throughout the two day course, teaching you an array of manoeuvres, before assessing your skills with the RYA criteria. By the end of day two you will have a complete understanding of the board and rig and be competent to sail up and down the lake in light winds. Your experience will draw to a close with a de-brief back at the centre, including a discussion of the techniques learnt and presentation of your personalised certificate.

Restrictions
Minimum Age: 16
Please let the centre know if you are not confident within the water.
If you are extraordinarily tall or short, or feel that your physique may impair your enjoyment of this activity in any way, please check with the centre when booking.

Duration
The RYA course takes approximately 2 full days to complete.

What to Wear / Equipment
Please bring a swimsuit, towel, sun cream and a warm change of clothes to the centre.
All specialised equipment will be provided by the centre.

Group Size / Spectators
This experience is great for both individuals and groups alike.
Spectators welcome.

This experience can be affected by extreme weather conditions. If in doubt, please contact the centre on the day to make sure it is going ahead.

The experience is available on selected dates throughout the year, normally weekend availability.
