(Sea and Sky) Rib Blast

Board an exciting high-speed RIB for a 60 min tour of the historic harbour and naval docks followed by a “scenic blast” around the Napoleonic Forts, midway across the Solent. The experienced skipper will open the RIB’s throttle and you’ll experience the exhilaration, surging across the waves at speeds approaching 50mph. You’ll get a unique and up-close view of the forts as you speed by, and on return to Gunwharf, you’ll visit the famous Spinnaker Tower which soars over the whole of Gunwharf Quays. You’ll travel 170 meters by lift to the top viewing platforms of the tower, where you can trace your recent trip around the locations of the Solent you’ve just visited. You’ll have the opportunity to look down through the amazing glass viewing floor or enjoy a coffee at the cafeteria whist marveling at the breath-taking views of the Isle of Wight and beyond!

Agenda

On your arrival you will be welcomed by the staff who will ask you to sign in before being familiarised with your experience. You will then be introduced to your skipper and issued with life jackets and waterproofs as required. The skipper will then guide you down to the pontoons where a pre-boarding safety brief will be given. After familiarisation with the vessel, it will be ‘ropes off’ and you’ll depart Gunwharf Quay for a brief tour of Portsmouth’s historic harbour before heading out into the Solent. You’ll weave amongst the Napoleonic stone forts that span the Solent before heading north, and back to the fortified harbour mouth at Old Portsmouth, then on to our home berth at Gunwharf Quays where you’ll disembark. Then it’s on to the high landmark Spinnaker Tower, where you’ll be wisked by lift up the 170m tower to the three levels of viewing platforms to view the far off points of the Solent where you have just been ploughing through the waves!

Disabled access is limited, please call the centre to discuss possibilities.
Not suitable for those with back, neck or heart complaints, or pregnant women.

Duration
Please arrive at the centre 30 minutes before the experience is due to start. The (Sea and Sky) RIB Blast will last for approx 60 mins on the water, then approx another 40 mins touring the Spinnaker Tower.

What to Wear / Equipment
You will be provided with a life jacket.
Please bring: Sunglasses, Suntan lotion and a warm clothing item as necessary.
Please wear a T-Shirt, Jeans or casual clothes plus soft soled shoes or trainers (and a change of clothes for your return as there’s the distinct possibility of getting wet!)

Group Size / Spectators
Spectators are welcome to come to the site, and departures/returns can be viewed, although the majority of the experience cannot be viewed from the shore line. However, this experience operates from Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth harbor - which is a major retail destination, and combines some 30 bars and restaurants to entertain your friends and family as they await your return!
