BEST OF BRIGHTON WALKING TOUR

Bissy and I decided to learn more about Brighton and booked a guided walking tour. We started just outside the Royal Pavilion, and after an hour and a half we finished by the seafront. The tour guide, Nat, took us around the city and we learnt about the history behind the famous landmarks, alongside its cultural significance such as Brighton Pride and the rise of different styles in fashion. Nat was really welcoming and friendly, and had a deep passion for Brighton which reflected through his words and excitement as he took us around.

He also explained his personal connections to Brighton, as he was raised here alongside generations of his family that had witnessed some of the history that he explained on the tour, hence making the experience feel more personal. He was very bubbly and knew many interesting details about Brighton that neither me nor Bissy had ever heard of before!

We started by the Royal Pavilion, which is a Grade 1 former royal residence in the heart of Brighton, now used as a museum. We learnt some very interesting facts about the history and people behind the building, before making our way to the Brighton Dome.

One of the coolest facts we found out on this tour is that the iconic Swedish band ABBA actually won the Eurovision Song Contest when it was held at the Brighton Dome in 1974! After learning about some iconic people who used to live in and rule Brighton, we made our way through the Brighton lanes and towards the Pier, where we found out some history about the 3 different piers that were once in Brighton! This was the final but memorable stop.
