Let’s just say the only thing getting me through this lockdown is waiting for the postman to drop off my parcels. In lockdown there are only two types of days: The days you get deliveries and the days you don’t. So, when I found out I would get the chance to create mascara from the comfort of my home, I was thrilled to try something new.

Since the age of 12, I have always been interested in makeup and the first bit of makeup my mum ever let me wear was mascara. This means that throughout my teenage and adult years I have tried many different brands, and I was excited to find out what products are used to create mascara.

This at home mascara making kit came with an instruction list, 3 organic oils, 2 powders, a glove, pipette, full size 6ml mascara tube and some cute stickers to decorate your bamboo mascara tube, which makes it a great addition to my make up bag. To be able to carry out this at home experience I needed a small mixing bowl and a teaspoon, easy as that…

I found it extremely challenging to get the consistency of the liquid correct after adding the oils and powder together. Although the instructions stated that it would be difficult to get the mascara in the pipette, I found it very easy to decant it from the mixing bowl into the bamboo tube.

When putting the mascara on it felt very light and nourishing unlike other mascaras. If you are someone with long lashes already or like very natural makeup, this would be the perfect product as it felt light on my lashes, colouring and conditioning without weighing them down.

Although it didn’t add much length to my eyelashes, this would have been perfect for 12-year-old me wanting to experiment with makeup as it was very subtle and didn’t make too much of a difference.
